Hello, I was wondering if anyone knows if a Boston Public School high school team needs to be coached by a teacher at the school? Or if someone outside can be hired? Thanks!

It is nice to see that high school hockey in Boston Public Schools is finally being recognized. But I did notice that the O’Bryant High School was not included in any of the games. Those players work just as hard and are playing well this year. Just ask Mystic Valley High School about their games. I see that East Boston did not beat or tie Mystic Valley like OB did. Or how about Pope John Paul from the Cape. Probably the toughest equally matched opponent all year for them. It’s too bad all of the schools from the city were not represented and all of the city players were not recognized for their contributions.

As a teacher Timo was rough and tough – but you learned your stuff – history and how to deal with life. I’m sure he’s great coach, but he’s an amazing teacher.

Congrats, Timo!! You’re finally comin’ out.
But I still say, “Timo, a football coach? A perfect season? And goin’ to the Super Bowl? Wow! I couldn’t possibly have imagined such an unlikelihood back when he and I first hooked up back at Kelly Miller Jr. High in DC and were two of the very few who went on to attend McKinley Tech HS (which had only been integrated a couple of years before).

I met Timo while on staff at the Shriners game a few years back. We made an instant connection and have enjoyed a friendship based around the wonderful game of high school football.
I wish Timo nothing but long life and joy in his retirement. “Great coaches never die, they just fade away”.
